Artist In Residence
The artist in residence program is an exciting opportunity for regional artists to showcase both their work and their talent by making art in-person at the gallery.
The artist in residence creates a studio in real time where visitors can meet them, watch them create, learn about their process, and purchase their work.
The monthly residences are available through application to the gallery with a submission of a CV and 5 images of work.

Kristan Webster BAA, Multiple Media Artist
Kristan Webster is a Sutton-based multimedia artist whose work explores fibre, encaustic, and printmaking processes. Her creative practice draws heavily on photography, using photographic imagery as both inspiration and source material for new work.
Kristan graduated from Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University) with a Bachelor of Applied Arts in Still Photographic Studies in 1997. Her early experiences working in a local gallery and teaching art workshops introduced her to the breadth of the artistic community and shaped her long-standing connection to arts education and creative practice.
She later built a career in promotional marketing before moving into the non-profit arts sector. While at the Gibson Centre for Arts and Culture, Kristan held multiple roles and remained closely involved in creative programming, including teaching art classes within the centre’s after-school program.
In recent years, Kristan has returned to an active studio practice. Beginning with fibre techniques such as needle felting and wet felting, she has expanded her work to include encaustic painting, etching, and monoprinting, often integrating photographic references into her process.
During her residency at the Art Gallery of Georgina, Kristan will demonstrate her encaustic painting techniques, as well as wet and needle felting processes, offering visitors insight into the materials and methods that shape her work.
Kristan has lived in Sutton for nearly seven years and values the opportunity to connect with the local artistic community. She is especially grateful for the instruction and support she has received through the gallery’s programs with Ann Shier, J.J. Martyn, Linda Pauer, and Rebecca Van Gennip.
