Writing Your Story
A Four-Week Writing Workshop with Alana Shields
Everyone has a story. The challenge is finding the words to tell it.
Whether you’re beginning a memoir, returning to a writing practice, working through an idea, or simply curious about where writing might take you, Writing Your Story offers four weeks to explore your voice and put your experiences on the page.
Led by Alana Shields using the Amherst Writers & Artists (AWA) method, each session uses thoughtful writing prompts to get you started, with time to write, share your work if you choose, and receive supportive responses from fellow writers.
You don’t need a finished idea. You don’t need writing experience. And you definitely don’t need to think of yourself as a “writer” before you walk through the door.
The guiding principle is simple: A writer is someone who writes.
Come with a story you’ve been carrying for years, a half-finished page, or no idea at all.
We’ll start there.
